Here at the Ranch, we’ve seen Nick help create the perfect atmosphere for the most memorable moments. Professionally, his collected demeanor and reliability act as a balm for the craziest of events. We know we can rely on him to be prepared and self-reliant, sailing through the event without a hitch. With his melodious voice serenading excited guests during the ceremony and cocktail hour, he brings the party as the DJ and EMC the rest of the night! Always looking right at home here at our Ranch, he’s an excellent fit for just about any event!

Nick Weiss Music is your one-stop-shop for Live Music and DJ services for Weddings, Corporate Engagements, and Private Parties. His wide array of services include live Guitar, Ukulele, and Vocals, DJ, Emcee, Microphone setup, Specialty Lighting, and more!

According to his website, Nick Weiss Music.com, his music career began at 15 and he juggled teaching music while attending the rigorous Music Conservatory program at Roosevelt University in Chicago at 18. A master of his craft, he encourages clients to suggest songs for him to arrange on the guitar or ukulele for wedding ceremonies, background music, etc. With casual confidence, he states on his website, “If you’re not sure I can do what you need, give me a call, I rarely disappoint!”

Erika was such a pleasure to work with! She couldn’t get enough of our rustic charm, and we don’t blame her for wanting to live in our historic Hacienda forever. Getting ready in those rooms will make you feel magically transported to a golden moment in time.

Dia de Los Muertos at Home

Ofrendas, and Music, and Treats, Oh My!

While we’re unable to gather at the ranch this year for Dia de Los Muertos, we wanted to reminisce on previous events and possibly share ways to have a safe and healthy Dia de Los Muertos at home!

 

 

We would love to see any home-made Ofrendas (alters) like those on display at Leo Carrillo’s historic Hacienda. These Ofrendas are built to recognize Leo Carrillo, his wife Edith, and his daughter Antoinette’s time at the Ranch. We found this fantastic site that suggests the best home-made decor from Taste of Home.com! Such beautiful colors and impressive attention to detail reminds us of some of our traditional Spanish-themed wedding celebrations from last year!

 

 

At past events, families enjoyed arts and crafts together! A tin art project and a Calavera mask-making activity were huge hits with the kids and a great way to learn about this beautiful holiday together. With some help from an adult, these crafts can be made again at home! Check out this article for tips and tricks on the coolest kid-friendly crafts for Dia de Los Muertos.

Our Events Are All-Inclusive, All Of The Time.

What do we mean by an “All-Inclusive” event?

All-inclusive refers to a venue that provides everything you would need to make your event come together. The term all-inclusive usually describes a venue that includes everything from the food and drinks to the table linens and event rentals. Some all-inclusive event spaces offer (or partner with) DJs, floral designers, and photography services, although this depends on your specific needs and style.

Some of the things you can expect from a San Diego all-inclusive event solution include:

  • Day of wedding or event coordinator
  • Event manager and wait staff to make sure everything runs smoothly
  • Custom menus and bar options
  • Champagne or sparkling cider for the toast
  • Complimentary cake cutting service
  • Tables, including sweetheart table for a wedding
  • Guestbook tables and place card tables
  • Belly bars with stools for cocktail hour
  • Patio heaters for outside events
  • Floor-length linens (color options typically provided)
  • Choice of chargers for plates
  • Candle options
  • China and champagne flutes for dining
  • Setup and clean up services

What is Not Provided in All-Inclusive Event?

This depends on the venue. Many times, the venue will offer flexibility in the available packages. For example, clients may be presented with different menus styles and not be limited to one fixed choice. These options may include variations of a sit-down menu, tray-passed appetizers, and / or specialty dining stations. Clients may also have to say over the color of linens and table layouts.

The following services are typically not included in an all-inclusive event:

  • Photographers and videographers make precise decisions during an event. Every photographer and videographer has a unique approach to their style of shooting. So each individual should choose who to work with based on your compatibility and style.
  • DJ — DJs are also particular and tend to play towards a specific genre or musical taste. DJs play important roles in San Diego weddings and events as they use their personalities and energy to lead the crowd and change the room’s mood.
  • Floral designers — choose a floral designer who is also closely based on your similar personal preference. These are usually chosen by the couple, or event host, as the style and type of flowers can set the entire event’s tone.

However, it is typically a great idea to have an all-inclusive event for the convenience of it all. If you would like suggestions for the DJ, floral designer, photographer, or other services not included by default, ask your coordinator! Our talented team of venue coordinators will suggest vendor partners or favorites based on their network and connections. Experienced wedding and event coordinators in San Diego are well connected within the community and will have plenty of top-notch vendors to recommend.

All That Room For Activities!

Lawn games are one trend that never goes out of style!

From corporate events to weddings, guests love lawn games! Toss some out during your event to give them an alternative to dancing or being stagnant at a table. Nearly all of our clients have added lawn games to their events for some extra entertainment. (Especially now that most of any gatherings are outdoors now.) Lawn games are great accessories to any wedding reception, family gathering, or corporate event!

Entertain your guests during the cocktail hour or throughout the entire event. The games fit right in with the DIY craze that is going on now, and you can customize or personalize each game any way you like with your names, wedding colors, pictures, or cute sayings.

Five Years of Touching Our Hearts!

It’s hard to believe that the talented folks at Personal Touch Dining have been behind the scenes, successfully making the magic happen at all our special events, for five years already!

 

In honor of Leo Carrillo’s generous spirit and love of celebration, Personal Touch Dining has helped us host countless weddings, holiday celebrations, and community events. All the while, they strive to embody the energy that we tirelessly work to keep alive here at the Leo Carrillo Ranch.

With each excited client under their wing, they take care to treat every event like they were hosting their own family. Their Catering, Event Coordination, and Venue Management skills are all above and beyond what is to be expected from a typical catering company. Incredibly talented, and always cheerful, the Personal Touch Dining staff work miracles on our grounds whenever they are here.

We’ve grown so much as a team while working with them, and our Ranch has grown as well! Thanks to their efforts, our beloved Ranch recieves the extra attention needed to maintain this enormous historic park.

Our Stables Got Another Glow Up!!

Last May, we were thrilled to reveal our Ranch’s Historic Stables fully renovated and ready to party!

We love showing off the Stables; the overall feel is so different from our Hacienda event area! Our Stables offer an intimate retreat for smaller guest counts. It draws in clients who want a boho-chic atmosphere for their event, but with clean lines for that touch of modern flair.

With its charming farm vibe, guests are always surprised that it’s so close to home in the heart of Carlsbad!

Unlike any other barn-like venue in California, we’ve blended the modern with the history to produce this gorgeously unique space. Our Ranch’s signature stark white and sky blue colors help accent the intricate woodwork of the original construction to help polish up this rustic space.

Since the statewide shut-downs in March this year, we’ve pounced on this opportunity to update the Stables’ vast outdoor space further.

Like a blank canvas, this spacious area offers endless possibilities! Dining tables, outdoor games, lounge areas, and photobooths can all fit and still feel roomy with the open floor plan.

Our signature windmill has never looked more dazzling draped in golden light, proudly gazing over the festivities!

A matching set with the one down by the Reflecting Pool in our other entertaining area, we love that it stands as a welcoming beacon at the entrance of this area.

 

We can’t wait to host weddings and events again soon!
